Red Flag  # 1 Does this sound familiar? Perhaps it is because this is the third SCAMmer to ask the same, basic question while admitting to making an error. If you have viewed theKaren M. Conners, theLaura Summers,or theLaura Summerspages on this site, you will immediately recognize the similarities. Each has a ‘check a month plan’ for 20 years, a ‘paid vacation’, a large sum of money to pay off bills or a house, and a similarly large sum for a new car. “Ms. Stevens” leaves out those last two items and doesn’t get too specific about how much those ‘monthly checks’ will be, but she still uses the 20 year schedule.

Each of these SCAMs also include three other “Free or Bonus” gifts. The first always tells you how to win lotteries. The second covers any ‘true love’ concerns. The last gift involves more cash.

Honestly, do these ‘people’ not realize how silly they look using the same document with only minor edits? I think it is simply another indication that the majority of these letters come from the same person or organization. (return to # 1 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 2 More of that bold red with a dotted underline text. “Ms. Stevens” uses those two words 28 times in her letter. All four of these ‘ladies’ may have perhaps had the same idea? They may think that adding these specific words will avoid the possibility of having to return anything because of their ‘100% guarantee’. Perhaps the wisest plan would be to never send them any money, in the first place! Whatever the reason, it simply makes the letters a bit funny to read... if it weren’t for the thousands of dollars they are stealing from those who send them their money. (return to # 2 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 3 A standard pattern in most SCAMs is to make the recipient feel they are special or deserving of financial help. The SCAMmer will even claim that the recipient is struggling financially since many people will always feel they can use more money. The recipient is usually told they have been ‘hand-picked’. The problem with all these claims and promises is that the SCAMmer has absolutely no knowledge of the financial state of any of their recipients. If they were truly ‘psychic’ or ‘clairvoyant’, of course, we would know it when they made correct statements about us. What the SCAMmers are doing, however, is playing into many people’s desire to have more money which helps to convince themselves that they are going to get ‘something for nothing’. (return to # 3 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 4 At least that’s the name being used in the letter. The point is, we really don’t know what the name of the person might be. Even if we knew, they would still be a complete stranger. It is dangerous and often harmful to give cash or checks to complete strangers. (return to # 4 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 5 You were no more ‘picked’ than any of the thousands of others who got this SCAM letter. You are simply on the purchased mailing list that is used to insert names and addresses into the word processing template that is used to create these letters. If you have ever filled out a form for a contest or subscribed to a magazine or joined a Nation-wide club or organization, your information could easily have been collected and compiled into one of thousands of commercially available mailing lists. That is probably the biggest expense for any SCAMmer.

You will probably notice that the postage paid is only the ‘bulk mail rate’, usually less than 10 cents per letter. That’s another indicator that these letters are not personal. The senders are not ‘psychic’, they do not even know if you actually live at the mailing address they used. If you reply, in any way, you will be doing them a favor by confirming you and the address are still valid. That will simply make your name and address more valuable to this and other SCAMmers. (return to # 5 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 6 Here is another standard trait in these SCAM letters; it’s the “Act-immediately-before-you-think” scheme. This letter uses the same, contradictory time limit seen in many others. You are told you must reply “in the next 72 hours”, followed by “no later than 5 days”. It does not say ‘three and five days’, which would still be strangely worded; and what would happen if your reply arrived in just two days?! Would you still get all the “free gifts”? Just remember, even if your reply falls into the correct time limits, “Ms. Stevens” only promises that you “may” get your “Powerful Cash Package”. Avoid the worries about the time limits; just don’t reply at all! (return to # 6 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 7 We already have a “Direct Line To God”! It’s called prayer! However, I completely disagree with the ‘author’ of this letter that this ‘direct line’ is for our use to request to be rich! This ‘direct line’ is to be used to help change our attitude and direction in life to what God wants us to do and be. He does answer our prayers, but we must accept that “No” is an answer. Don’t be fooled by the current crop of people claiming that God wants everyone to be financially rich. You may notice that all those ‘preachers’ are driving expensive cars and living in expensive, even lavish, houses. That is hardly the way Jesus lived. God says He will supply all our needs. Our problem is confusing ‘needs’ and ‘wants’. All these SCAMmers want is for us to supply their needs for more money. They couldn’t care less about any of our wants, much less our needs. (return to # 7 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 8 The one thing every single SCAM letter does; The infamous, ‘send me some money’ action. This letter pre-dates the others I mentioned earlier. This later letters show the increasing costs of doing business; they all raised the fee by two dollars from “Ms. Stevens’” $22.95! I can tell you how to save even more; Don’t send even the lower fee to “Ms. Stevens”! Save your money or donate it to a trustworthy cause in your area. (return to # 8 Red Flag above)

Red Flag  # 9 Once again, I repeat what I’ve said in so many of the pages on my site. I have never, ever seen or heard of anyone getting a refund from any of these SCAMs, no matter how many times they claim their ‘guarantee’ is ‘100% money-back’, ‘no-questions-asked’, ‘heartfelt’ or ‘genuine’! It just never happens, no ifs, ands or perhaps about it! (return to # 9 Red Flag above)
